| Twin Pine Farm
is pleased to offer an intensive Working Student program. Working
Students must be a minimum of 12 years of age. In exchange for a
predetermined hourly schedule they learn about the business from
the "ground up". This learning opportunity is a perfect
fit in an atmosphere of teaching and constant exchange. The Working
Student schedule typically involves one weeknight evening (Monday
- Friday) of night barn - 3:30 PM to 5:15 PM - and one whole weekend
day - 7:30 AM to 5:15 PM - every other weekend.
The weekend day schedule involves opening the
barn, feeding, turning out, making up grain for the next meal, and
tending to 8 stalls. There is always riding time during the work
day. Working Students also help with tacking up and getting the
lessons to the arena on schedule. Night Barn follows free time to
ride or hack out.
The Working Student receives one weekly lesson,
unlimited riding time, and discounts on trailering and other TPF
offerings. Working Students are given priority placement in TPF
shows and clinics. The Working Student opportunity is intended primarily
for the non-horse-owning individual, but several current Working
Students have their own horses.
Many older working students end up apprenticing
here in preparation for the State of Massachusetts Riding Instructor
testing. To date we have had 23 applicants go onto to be State Licensed
Riding Instructors.
